| Working experience and occupation | Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) (R) Lai Lee Peng served with the Royal Malaysia Police ("PDRM") for over 38 years before retiring in December 2025. Throughout her distinguished career, she held various senior leadership positions within the Special Branch, Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department ("JPJKK"), and the Royal Malaysia Police College.
She holds a Diploma in Public Law from the University of Malaya and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
She has extensive experience in governance, legal and regulatory compliance, risk management, strategic planning, crime prevention, stakeholder engagement, institutional oversight, and public safety. During her tenure with JPJKK, she led crime data analytics, hotspot identification, and strategic crime prevention initiatives, supporting data-driven operational planning and resource deployment nationwide. She also contributed to the development of PDRM's Standard Operating Procedures during the COVID-19 Movement Control Order and coordinated patrol operations to ensure regulatory compliance and public safety.
In addition to her operational responsibilities, she served as a Member of the Disciplinary Board of the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK Kuala Lumpur) and as Executive Secretary of the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF), where she was involved in governance, ethics, programme oversight, stakeholder engagement, and public-private collaboration.
Prior to her retirement, she served as a Member of the Parole Board under the Ministry of Home Affairs Malaysia, representing PDRM. In this capacity, she participated in the assessment of offender rehabilitation, parole suitability, public safety, and risk management. |
