Sapura Holdings (SHSB) director Datuk Shahriman Shamsuddin told the High Court here on Friday that in his capacity as director of Sapura Resources Berhad (KL:SAPRES) (SRB), he had ignored SHSB’s offer for SRB to carry out a rights issue that SHSB claimed would have injected RM40 million into the company for the shortfall faced by one of its main projects, the Permata Sapura project — a 52-storey skyscraper in KL known as Project Apex.

A lawyer for Sapura Holdings chief executive officer Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin argued that the conflict between Shahril and his brother Datuk Shahriman Shamsuddin, who is also a director of the company, was simply a disagreement over the direction of a skyscraper project named Permata Sapura, and not an “irreparable breakdown in trust” as claimed by Shahriman in his legal petition.

The High Court heard on Tuesday that Sapura Resources Bhd (SRB) (KL:SAPRES) had averted a payment default after Sapura Holdings Sdn Bhd injected RM40 million into SRB just a day before the deadline for payment.

Datuk Shahriman Shamsuddin, director of Sapura Holdings Sdn Bhd (SHSB), told the High Court that he had objected to a RM192 million injection through Sapura Resources Bhd (KL:SAPRES) to build Permata Square, a 52-storey tower in Kuala Lumpur City Centre — despite board meeting minutes showing no such objections.
