Advised for newbie before buying, understand what is this development cost before buying. This could be expense off and it stay in Non current asset for 3.7billion, it will possibly slash ur NTA by 0.5. Usually when some event happen auditor only feel like need to take this seriously
Compare space x to myeg, show how ignorant you both are. And under gaap, space x cant capitalise development cost, i bet you both dont even know what is development cost and what is the accounting standard, stop come out to mislead ppl just because u have tiny investment inside
@YTXY Interestingly, development costs have spiked up from ~ RM320m in FYE 31/12/2021 to ~ RM3.7 BILLIONS in QR ended 30 June 2026 ie. ~ 5 years. These can be extrapolated and analysed further over the last five years (FYE 2021-2025) in relation to development costs amortisation rates (supposedly 2-5 years) since there have been no impairments todate. Annual amortisation rates (expense cost) on development costs in sync with overall total development costs incurred and revenue ?
Hi, expert..no one saying SpaceX and Zetrix are the same company, nor saying their accounting treatment is identical. The point was to compare the business nature and the way investors should think about very large development/R&D expenditure, particularly when substantial costs are being capitalised and the value of those investments depends on future commercial success...who is actually being ignorant?????
Verified development/R&D costs are fine but will largely be dependent on future commercial success. Always the risks of potential impairment once amount gets too large within a short duration.
If you worried about development cost, means tech company is not suitable for you. You might as well invest in other cash business like 99, ecoshop or f&b
Development cost fine but quantum way too high at RM3.75 billion when dividend only at 0.25 Sen (instead of 25 Sen) and share price at 70 Sen (instead of RM7). Also, corporate exercise should not have been undertaken and announced amidst severe share price volatility since weighted average considerations cannot be determined.
Tech company is always good, i invested google microsoft and etc, because they wont capitalise all these development cost, they have adjusted eps, they use gaap, they have a better financial info than those using IFRS
R&D/Development Costs - GAAP (strict, rules-based accounting system used only in the United States) requires R&D/development costs to be expensed immediately. IFRS allows CERTAIN development costs to be capitalized (saved as an asset) if they meet SPECIFIC FUTURE ECONOMIC CRITERIAS. GAAP relies on detailed rules and specific tests. IFRS relies on BROAD principles and PROFESSIONAL JUDGEMENTS but must still be FULLY and ADEQUATELY tested for impairments based on respective GGUs etc. Unless, rules and standards have since changed in recent years as we are already in our golden age although basic technical knowledge still in the “hard drive” :-|
I am replying elton chan and those dont know how to read financial info. I am certified accountant, i know how tech stock co play around with these development cost. Anyway, my comment is for those newbie, dont get trap into this kind of company. You got much more choice in US, the real tech company.
