| Working experience and occupation | Puan Zainora Zainal is a professional with extensive experience in the construction industry with over 35 years of experience covering industry development, policy formulation, construction standards, contractor development as well as international cooperation. She started her career as a Graduate Trainee Engineer at British Aerospace and GEC Plessey Telecommunication before joining the public sector in 1992 at the Malaysian Institute of Standards and Industrial Research (SIRIM). Subsequently, she served at the Labuan Corporation in 1996 before joining CIDB Malaysia in 1998. On 28 November 2024, Puan Zainora Zainal made history as the first woman to be appointed as the Chief Executive of CIDB Malaysia. She was instrumental in driving various strategic initiatives in line with the Construction Industry Transformation Programme (CITP). Among her main initiatives are spearheading the strategic direction of the organisation and the transformation of the country's construction industry which includes human capital development, digitalisation and technological innovation, development of contractor capacity and capability, strengthening of quality standards and industry governance, internationalisation of the construction sector as well as strengthening organisational sustainability. Under her leadership, CIDB is intensifying the implementation of the Construction Action Plan 2026-2030 (CAP30), expanding CIDB's network of Building Information Modelling (BIM) laboratories nationwide and strengthening the capacity and capabilities of local contractors to meet the needs of high-tech strategic sectors including nuclear. Internationally, she has represented Malaysia in various forums including ASEAN and APAC, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO). She also led various trade delegations and construction missions to the Middle East, South Asia and Central Asia to strengthen Malaysia's construction industry's position globally. |
