The Board of Directors of PLS Plantations Berhad (“PLS” or “the Company”) wishes to announce that the Company had on 6 February 2026 entered into a Strategic Partnership Agreement (“SPA”) with Nippon Paper Industries Co. Ltd. (“NPI”) and Nippon Paper Lumber Co. Ltd. (“NPL”) (collectively, the “Nippon Paper Group”).

The SPA establishes a structured three-year collaboration framework for the Parties to jointly conduct research and explore and assess the commercial feasibility of developing a large-scale eucalyptus plantation programme in Malaysia. Under the SPA, Nippon Paper Group will provide technical support for PLS’s plantation operations in Malaysia to enhance the productivity of their Eucalyptus plantation business.

The SPA serves as a framework for cooperation and does not create any obligation for the Parties to enter into a joint venture at this stage. Any potential commercial joint venture will only be considered upon completion of the research and feasibility phases and will be subject to separate definitive agreements and the relevant approvals.
