Dato' Faris started his career in audit in Arthur Andersen & Co ("AA") in 1991. After 7 years in AA, he moved on to the advisory practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers ("PwC"). His exposure during the 6 years tenure in PwC was primarily in strategy and financial restructuring.

He became the Chief Financial Officer in Prokhas Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned MoF Inc. company, mandated to realise the monetary value of Danaharta's residual recovery assets. His 5 years tenure in Prokhas saw the team convert almost RM4 billion worth of residual recovery assets. 

Dato' Faris later joined Asian Finance Bank, a subsidiary of Qatar Islamic Bank as its Head of Investment Banking. His 3 years tenure allowed him to work closely with Qatar Islamic Bank and Qinvest to identify and execute deals between Qatar, Malaysia and Indonesia. 

Dato' Faris was then identified by the Ministry of Finance to be the Managing Director of Cyberview Sdn Bhd, another wholly owned MoF Inc. company. During his 4 years appointment, Dato' Faris led the management team to oversee the development of the ecosystem in Cyberjaya. 

Dato' Faris was, until June 2024, the Group Chief Executive Officer of MK Land Holdings Berhad.

He currently runs FY & Associates, a consulting practice that provides corporate advisory services covering Executive & Leadership Mentoring, Culture & Business Transformation and Change Management.
